Domestic Heating

Allgas Heating Services Ltd maintain an annual service reminder database to notify our customers when the boiler and heating system is due for its next service. So you need not worry about forgetting, as we will remind you.

Our service includes FREE site surveys on new installations, written quotations on request, boiler servicing, carbon monoxide testing, gas soundness testing, full heating installations, boiler replacement and repairs.

We can offer extended guarantees on selected boiler manufacturers when installing new boilers at competitive rates. With our extensive knowledge and experience we can give you honest advice about choosing the right product to suit your needs.

The two most popular choices of gas boilers are the conventional type or combination, both of which are available as (energy efficient) condensing boilers.

Conventional boilers heat your hot water and radiators when activated by a control. The hot water is then stored in a cylinder until it is required. This type of system is most suited to large families and large houses.

Combination boilers also heat your radiators but give hot water on demand. So you don't need a cylinder and you never run out of hot water. This type of system is most suited to smaller homes, flats and bungalows.

Condensing boilers are designed to recycle heat, therefore reducing energy consumption and bills.

Power flushing is a more efficient and quicker way of cleaning a central heating system. When installing new boilers on old heating systems, it is the boiler manufacturers requirement that all the sludge is first removed from the system, as it could affect the performance of your new boiler and invalidate your warranty.

Servicing is carried out to a standard schedule as follows:

  • Isolate the gas and electrical supply to the appliance.
  • Dismantle the appliance to gain access to the combustion area, inspect and clean.
  • Check the heat exchanger, the main burner, the pilot burner and fan, removing any dust from the impeller if necessary.
  • Check all water, electrical and gas connection for soundness and safety.
  • Check flue ways, air intake ducts and flue terminal.
  • Confirm ventilation requirements.
  • Carry out flue flow and spillage test, check burner gas pressure and heat output.
  • Check all combustion chamber seals for soundness.
  • Check stability of appliance and any retaining devices.
  • Check the working gas pressure and carry out an efficiency test on the boiler.

Gas Safety

Properly installed appliances that are checked regularly by Gas Safe registered installers should be safe. However, if you notice any of the following tell tale danger signs, you should switch off the appliance immediately and notify your registered installer:

  • Soot around the appliance.
  • A yellow or orange lazy flame.
  • Excessive condensation in the room where the appliance is installed.

Physical symptoms of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning:

If you experience drowsiness, headaches, nausea or pains in the chest when using a gas appliance, immediately switch the appliance off and contact a doctor, mentioning carbon monoxide poisoning.
